Before establishing their own business, the Kouroupis brothers spent a combined 30 years working for the Maryland State Highway Administration. While working for the SHA Construction Inspection Division, they learned the methods of contracting and saw an opportunity to start their own company. In July 1995, Lems Contracting became incorporated and established a corporate philosophy of meeting the customer’s project schedule at a competitive price. From humble beginnings, they have grown from a crew of four to a full staff of employees capable of developing sites to meet your needs.

As a sub-contractor, Lems Contracting has installed environmental controls, concrete curbs and gutters, sidewalks, handicap ramps, storm-water management facilities, utility conduit placements and storm sewers. Working in a prime contractor capacity, Lems Contracting has completed major projects for the Maryland Aviation Administration at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport, Howard County, Harford County, Cecil County, and the Maryland State Highway Administration. Whether operating as a sub-contractor or as a prime, Lems Contracting is always committed to safety, recently being awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Injured Workers Insurance Fund for two years of an injury-free workplace.
